Royal Roads University gratefully acknowledges that we learn, work, and live on the traditional lands of the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) and Lekwungen (Songhees) ancestors and families who have lived here for thousands of years.

Royal Roads University (RRU), located in Victoria, BC, offers applied and professional degree programming that is interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary in nature and its research has an applied focus. With a reputation for innovation, RRU is a leader in online delivery and blended learning models.

RRU is committed to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority consideration.

Professional Services

*Associate faculty are independent contractors who provide professional services to Royal Roads University under limited-term contracts to develop and/or teach individual courses in our programs. In alignment with our Learning, Teaching & Research model, associate faculty bring their professional and practical experience to the university as scholar-practitioners who excel at pedagogy informed by concurrent practice.

The BA Justice Studies program is recruiting for multiple associate faculty* contract position(s) and specifically seeking applications for JUST312 - Indigenous Justice Perspectives course.

Our BA in Justice Studies is a broad-based, multi-disciplinary program that draws knowledge from academic disciplines including law, criminology, sociology, philosophy, political science, computer science, social work and public administration. The program integrates a rigorous academic regimen with practical justice service skills thereby preparing students for careers in the public sector and non-profit agencies as well as non-government organizations, criminal justice agencies and other agencies dealing with justice-related issues. The program is offered in two formats: a 12-month on campus program and a 2-year blended program, which is largely an online program with two 3-week residencies.

The program is seeking associate faculty to teach the following course:

JUST312 - Indigenous Justice Perspectives

Explores Indigenous world views to justice. Encourages dialogue regarding historical impacts of colonial justice on Indigenous peoples within Canada and responses to the recognized problems with dominant approaches to justice. Includes an examination of historical responses and current measures to redress injustices and contemporary advances in Indigenous justice perspectives.
