Building fire, flood or gas leak

Doors to exit building

Here's what you should do if you discover a fire, flood or gas leak in a building at Royal Roads:

Fire

In case of fire, stop what you're doing and let the people around you know there's a fire. Pull the nearest fire alarm and evacuate the building.

Flood

In case of flood, be aware that water on a floor may be electrically charged or contaminated, so do not operate any electrical switches.

You should evacuate the building under direction of the emergency warden and go to the evacuation assembly area.

You should then inform Security, who will contact the Operations and Resilience team.

Gas leak or gas smell

If you smell gas or suspect there has been a gas leak, do not pull the fire alarm. Instead, immediately evacuate the area and go to the evacuation assembly area under direction of emergency warden.

You should then inform Security, who will contact the Operations and Resilience team.
