Royal Roads University provides first aid services and resources as a fundamental part of our safety program.

Report all work-related injuries immediately

For minor injuries, contact:

  • Colwood Campus Security: 250-391-2525 or extension 2525 on a Royal Roads phone
  • Langford Campus Security: 236-475-5070

The first aid room at the Colwood Campus is located in the Millward building.

If you are contacting first aid for someone else, ensure that the injured person is comfortable and safe and direct the first aid attendant to the injured person if required.

Providing help in a medical emergency

If someone is experiencing a medical emergency on campus, call 9-1-1 for help. If someone else is around, have them contact Campus Security, too.

If someone is experiencing cardiac arrest, you can use an automated external defibrillator (AED) found in buildings around around campus.

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a safe, easy-to-use, portable device that can deliver a shock to a person in cardiac arrest, if needed to restart their heart. You can learn more through the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

The short video below walks through what an AED is and how to use it in an emergency.

Tracking workplace injuries

To comply with WorkSafeBC regulations, we report all workplace injuries requiring first aid to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee at their monthly meeting. The committee reviews the information to determine causes and make recommendations to prevent injuries.
